Maha Kumbh 2025: Sanitation Guidelines for Food Stalls at Railway Stations

Maha Kumbh Nagar, Jan 2 (NationPress) As preparations for the spectacular Maha Kumbh 2025 progress, the Railways are working to elevate the overall experience for devotees and visitors by ensuring they have access to safe and hygienic food.

The Prayagraj division has mandated that all catering stall license holders comply with the set pricing and uphold cleanliness and hygiene in their food services.

Moreover, all stalls must maintain orderly arrangements, ensure staff are donned in appropriate uniforms, display name plates, and exhibit courteous behaviour towards the visiting devotees.

Importantly, the railways are continuously expanding their services to handle the surge of devotees and tourists during the Maha Kumbh.

Himanshu Shukla, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager/Coaching, noted that millions of devotees from across the nation and overseas are anticipated to visit Prayagraj for darshan and bathing, with many opting to travel by train.

He underscored that the Railways must deliver outstanding services.

Furthermore, he instructed that all stalls keep their goods well-organized, ensure staff wear proper attire with nameplates, and maintain polite interactions with devotees.

He added, "Regular and surprise inspections of stalls and passenger amenities will be conducted. Additionally, license holders have been asked to provide details of their base kitchens promptly.

In addition, Shukla encouraged the availability of visitor feedback books at the stalls, motivating staff and license holders to suggest ways to enhance public facilities.

The Senior Divisional Commercial Manager/Coaching announced that over 13,000 trains will be run for the convenience of devotees during Maha Kumbh. This includes more than 10,000 regular trains and over 3,000 special trains.

To manage the extensive passenger influx, a total of 560 ticketing points will be established across nine railway stations - Prayagraj Junction, Subedarganj, Naini, Prayagraj Chheoki, Prayag Junction, Phaphamau, Prayagraj Rambagh, Prayagraj Sangam, and Jhunsi, including the fair area. Among these, 132 counters will be at Prayagraj Junction, where approximately 10 lakh tickets can be issued daily.

The Railways has also introduced the option to book railway tickets 15 days in advance. A toll-free helpline number, 1800 4199 139, has been operational since November 1, 2024, staffed with four operators per shift round-the-clock. This helpline will provide information in languages such as Odia, Tamil/Telugu, Marathi, and Bengali during the fair period.

Additionally, a multilingual announcement system will be implemented for travel-related information in 12 languages - Hindi, English, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali, Odia, Punjabi, and Assamese - ensuring seamless communication for all devotees during Maha Kumbh.
