New Delhi, Jan 18 (NationPress) Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is poised to visit Prayagraj on Saturday to be part of the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela.
The Union Minister will commence his journey by taking a sacred dip in the holy waters of the Sangam and subsequently conduct religious ceremonies at significant sites, including Akshaya Vat, Patalpuri Temple, Saraswati Kund, and the Hanuman Temple.
This visit is part of the grand religious festival, which is drawing millions of worshippers from around the nation and the globe.
This year’s Maha Kumbh, which commenced on January 13, will run until February 26, attracting a vast number of pilgrims.
Alongside Rajnath Singh’s visit, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is also expected to attend the Maha Kumbh on January 18. The Chief Minister will evaluate the ongoing projects and inspect the arrangements for the extensive fair, including the safety measures implemented for the pilgrims.
The Maha Kumbh marks its sixth day on Saturday, and a large assembly of devotees is anticipated to gather along the banks of the Sangam for a sacred bath. This spiritual event is recognized as one of the largest globally, with devotees participating in the auspicious 'Amrit Snan' or royal bathing festival.
The inaugural Amrit Snan occurred on January 14, coinciding with Makar Sankranti, while the second is scheduled for January 29, for Mauni Amavasya, followed by the third on February 3, for Basant Panchami.
To ensure the safety of millions of devotees, a specialized team of 220 expert divers from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed at the Sangam.
The divers work in shifts, supported by 700 boats, to maintain continuous vigilance during the holy bathing ceremonies. Security personnel from the NDRF, SDRF, PAC, water police, and healthcare teams are collaborating closely to ensure seamless operations throughout the event.
In response to the increasing number of visitors, the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (UPSTDC) has enhanced its accommodation facilities. A deluxe 300-bed dormitory has been established within the Maha Kumbh area, providing premium lodging options for both pilgrims and tourists.
With these careful safety and accommodation measures, the Maha Kumbh Mela continues to be a spiritually significant and well-organized event.
