Prayagraj, Jan 18 (NationPress) As the Maha Kumbh Mela continues to draw millions of devotees from all corners of India and beyond, Indian Railways has intensified its initiatives to safeguard the health and safety of pilgrims by establishing well-equipped medical facilities at crucial railway stations, including Prayagraj Junction in Uttar Pradesh.
With lakhs of devotees flocking to the city for this religious gathering, the railway authorities have introduced a dedicated observation room situated at the entry gate leading to platform number 3 at Prayagraj station. These centers are intended to deliver immediate medical support to anyone encountering health-related issues or emergencies.
The observation rooms are equipped with essential medical apparatus such as Electrocardiogram (ECG) machines for heart-related problems, defibrillators for cardiac arrest situations, oxygen concentrators for respiratory ailments, and glucometers for diabetes management.
A pharmacist stationed at the facility commented, "All necessary amenities are available here. Our nursing team is ready around the clock. In emergencies, we provide immediate assistance. For more critical cases, we swiftly transfer patients via ambulance to the nearest hospital."
Recently, a woman received treatment after feeling dizzy late at night near the canal. Her relative, Naveen, expressed appreciation, stating, "We were on our way to the Ganga for a bath when her health worsened. We are thankful for the quick and excellent care rendered by the railway personnel."
The medical centers are part of a larger initiative by Indian Railways to offer 24/7 health services during the ongoing Mela, ensuring that countless pilgrims visiting Prayagraj for this sacred event receive proper care.
Having already seen over 7 crore devotees bathe at the Sangam, this number is anticipated to surpass 50 crore by the time the 45-day festival comes to a close on February 26. The Maha Kumbh Mela, occurring once every twelve years, provides pilgrims with the chance to partake in a ritual bath at the Triveni Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers converge.
