Maharashtra CM Fadnavis Labels TCS Nashik Case Allegations as Extremely Serious
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Kolkata, April 17 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, addressed the media on Friday regarding the ongoing investigation linked to the Nashik Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) case, labeling the allegations of sexual harassment and religious coercion as "extremely serious" and indicating that these activities were conducted under a defined "module".
During his visit to Kolkata for election campaigning, Fadnavis shared that initial findings point towards a systematic approach rather than isolated incidents. He commended TCS for its proactive involvement in the investigation, emphasizing that the company is supporting the inquiry instead of protecting the accused.
The Chief Minister stated that investigations are ongoing, and the Central agencies have been notified; assistance from them will be sought if necessary. The case comprises multiple FIRs from female employees who have reported incidents of sexual harassment, stalking, and mental torture occurring between 2022 and March 2026.
Fadnavis underscored the seriousness of the situation, declaring, "This matter is very grave, and we are imposing strict measures. It has come to light that these acts were orchestrated under a module. Thankfully, TCS has played a crucial role in the investigation and will not shield any wrongdoers." Additionally, he noted that TCS leadership has "strongly condemned" the actions of the accused and is fully cooperating with law enforcement to ensure justice prevails.
The Chief Minister remarked that TCS's decision to not protect the offenders establishes a vital precedent for corporate accountability within the state.
As per Fadnavis, the Nashik police are actively analyzing CCTV footage and digital communications to determine if additional individuals may be implicated in the alleged module. Local authorities have also heightened security measures and oversight at major IT hubs to promote workplace safety throughout the region.
Investigations have uncovered a pattern of religious coercion, with allegations that employees faced pressure to consume specific foods and engage in religious practices contrary to their personal beliefs.
The Nashik police have already detained several individuals, including senior personnel and an HR official, accused of neglecting internal complaints. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been established to delve into the "organized" nature of these offenses.
