Bokaro (Jharkhand), April 2 (NationPress) In a significant operation against organized crime in Bokaro, Jharkhand, law enforcement officials have detained seven individuals affiliated with the notorious interstate gangs of Aman Sahu and Prince Khan, as announced on Thursday.

These gangs are implicated in running extensive extortion schemes and instilling fear among local entrepreneurs, according to police reports.

During the operation, the principal suspect, Prince Kumar Gupta, also known as ‘Bhatia’, was wounded in a confrontation with the police and has since been taken to Bokaro General Hospital for medical care.

At a press briefing, Bokaro's Superintendent of Police, Harvinder Singh, revealed that the detainees include Prince Kumar Gupta, Shyam Kumar Singh, Ajay Singh, Omprakash Pal, Jainendra Shukla, Golu Kumar, and Bhupendra Singh.

The encounter unfolded in the early morning hours when police, acting on Gupta’s information, attempted to recover concealed weapons. Upon their arrival, the suspects opened fire, leading to a defensive response from the police, resulting in Gupta being shot in the leg and subsequently captured.

Investigations by law enforcement have indicated that the gang operated via a sophisticated network. Local members collected the contact details of prominent business figures, contractors, and real estate agents, which were then relayed to main operators, including Rahul Dubey, Mayank Singh, and Prince Khan. Allegations suggest that extortion calls were made from overseas and within prison facilities.

The apprehended suspects are also accused of gathering extortion funds on behalf of the gang. Authorities have confiscated several mobile phones used in the criminal enterprise, along with SIM cards from various service providers and firearms.

Officials noted that in recent days, numerous businessmen in Bokaro received menacing calls and texts from an individual identifying as ‘Prakash Shukla’, causing widespread anxiety throughout the industrial city.

In response, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was established under the guidance of the City DSP. Utilizing technical surveillance and intelligence, the SIT successfully dismantled the local networks of both gangs, culminating in the arrest of all seven suspects.

Authorities stated that this operation marks a crucial move towards combating organized extortion and reinstating a sense of security among the region's business community.
