Key Takeaways
New Delhi, April 4 (NationPress) In a significant operation under its strict anti-drug policy, the Delhi Police’s Anti-Narcotics Squad (ANS) successfully detained two drug suppliers and confiscated a substantial amount of ganja, as well as cash and packaging materials.
As per the East District Police's report, the raid resulted in the apprehension of two suspects, identified as Nadeem, aged 28, and Monu alias Abhishek, aged 25. Authorities seized a total of 45.760 kg of ganja, estimated to be worth around Rs 23 lakh in the illegal market. Additionally, the police recovered cash amounting to Rs 2,65,400, an electronic weighing scale, and bulk packaging supplies from the scene.
This breakthrough was part of the Delhi Police’s ongoing commitment to combat narcotics trafficking and dismantle organized drug syndicates. A specialized team from the ANS, including SI Rahul Monga, SI Vikas, ASI Arun Kumar, ASI Amit Kumar, among other officers, operated under the leadership of Inspector Arun Kumar, who oversees the ANS/East unit, with the overall support of ACP Operations Pawan Kumar.
Acting on precise intelligence gathered on April 2, the team was informed that the suspects had stockpiled a significant quantity of ganja at a residential site located in Jawahar Mohallah, Shashi Garden, for further distribution. The police swiftly executed a raid and discovered both suspects actively engaged in the process of packaging the illegal substances into smaller pouches.
During the operation, four plastic bags containing the narcotic were retrieved. Upon weighing and confirming, the total ganja seized was found to be 45 kg and 760 grams, categorizing it as a commercial quantity under the NDPS Act. A case (FIR No. 90/2026) has been registered at Police Station Pandav Nagar under applicable sections of the NDPS Act, leading to the immediate detention of both suspects.
During questioning, the suspects disclosed their involvement in a structured narcotics distribution network operating throughout Delhi-NCR. They admitted to obtaining ganja in bulk from interstate sources and keeping it in residential areas to evade detection. The drugs were repackaged into smaller units using basic equipment such as staplers and adhesive tape for convenient distribution via local channels.
Authorities indicated that neither of the suspects had any previous criminal history. Nadeem, residing in Shashi Garden, is married and completed education up to Class 8, while Monu, who lives in Shastri Mohalla, Patparganj, is unmarried and has studied up to Class 7.
Further inquiries are currently in progress to trace both the upstream and downstream links of the narcotics supply chain, including potential interstate connections.
