Rahul leaves behind his mother, his wife, actress Priyanka Sarkar, and their 13-year-old son.
His demise occurred while he was shooting at Talsari beach in Odisha. Reports indicate that following the shooting session, he fell from a speedboat and was later pronounced dead upon arrival at a hospital in Digha, located in West Bengal's East Midnapore district.
At the time of the incident, he was working on the television series Bhole Baba Paar Karega.
Renowned director and TMC MLA Raj Chakraborty, who directed the film 'Chirodini Tumi Je Amar', expressed his disbelief, stating, "I can’t wrap my head around this tragedy. He was an exceptionally gifted actor. I received the news from my wife, Subhashree. He was also a brilliant writer. I am speechless."
A representative from the West Bengal Police confirmed that the actor was declared dead at a Digha hospital after being transported from Talsari beach in Odisha.
Rahul, who was well-known in the Bengali television circuit for his character roles, had a successful career in soaps for several years.
He initially rose to fame with his role in the hit movie 'Chirodini Tumi Je Amar' in 2008, followed by successful projects such as 'Tumi Asbe Bole' (2014), 'Zulfiqar' (2016), 'Byomkesh Gotro' (2018), 'Biday Byomkesh' (2018), and 'The Academy of Fine Arts' (2025), among others.
Rahul Arunoday Banerjee had also featured in television serials like 'Horogouri Pice Hotel' and 'Mohona'.
