Gandhinagar, Aug 19 (NationPress) In anticipation of the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) set to occur in Mehsana on October 9-10, the Mandal-Bechraji Special Investment Region (MBSIR) is experiencing significant advancements in critical infrastructure initiatives, bolstering its role as the economic epicenter of North Gujarat.
The MBSIR is a vast industrial area in northern Gujarat, encompassing sections of Ahmedabad, Mehsana, and Surendranagar districts. It was designated under Gujarat’s Special Investment Region (SIR) Act, 2009 and stands as one of the state's most ambitious industrial developments. The region spans over 100 sq km and is strategically positioned near the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC).
Renowned as an automobile and engineering hub, the MBSIR hosts major manufacturers like Maruti Suzuki, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, and Suzuki Motorcycles, alongside a multitude of ancillary and auto-component businesses.
The Gujarat government is enhancing the area with infrastructure improvements, including broad roadways, water supply and drainage systems, effluent treatment facilities, and logistics centers, all focusing on sustainability and readiness for global investment.
The Mandal Bechraji Special Investment Region Development Authority (MBSIRDA) is expediting various development projects. Among completed initiatives is the construction of 33 km of internal roads, costing around Rs 190 crore.
Moreover, ongoing projects worth Rs 500 crore include town-planning roads extending over 66 km, equipped with essential water supply, sewerage, and effluent disposal pipelines for industrial applications.
To further enhance industrial infrastructure, MBSIRDA has outlined projects valued at Rs 70 crore, which include a 20 MLD (million litres per day) water treatment facility, three sewage treatment plants with capacities from 4 MLD to 15 MLD, and a 19 MLD Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP). These developments emphasize Gujarat’s dedication to creating world-class, sustainable industrial environments.
The Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) is a fresh series of regional investment summits introduced by the Gujarat government as a precursor to the 2027 Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS). Aimed at showcasing local strengths, VGRC will take place across four regions — North Gujarat (Mehsana, Oct 2025), Saurashtra-Kutch (Rajkot, Jan 2026), South Gujarat (Surat, Apr 2026), and Central Gujarat (Vadodara, Jul 2026).
Each conference will concentrate on key sectors of the region, such as agriculture, dairy, food processing, and automobiles in North Gujarat, while also highlighting industries including petrochemicals, gems, and technology in other areas. With robust participation from policymakers, industry leaders, and entrepreneurs, VGRC aims to fortify Gujarat’s regional economies, attract investments, and synchronize local growth with the state’s overarching vision for inclusive and sustainable development.
