Mandsaur, May 11 (NationPress) In a pioneering effort, a district jail located in Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur district has launched an awareness campaign aimed at informing inmates about various public welfare initiatives implemented by the Central government. This initiative also encourages prisoners to engage with these schemes upon their release from incarceration.
This unique camp enabled prisoners to register for a diverse range of welfare programs.
Organized by the District Legal Services Authority, the camp at Mandsaur District Jail educated inmates on several schemes, including Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Yojana, Pradhan Mantri E-Shram Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Aabha Yojana, and Madhya Pradesh Sambal Yojana.
Identification cards are being created for prisoners on a large scale, allowing them to access benefits during their time in prison and once they reintegrate into society after their sentences.
Organizers believe this initiative will inspire prisoners to become responsible citizens.
Mandsaur District Jail Superintendent Prem Kumar Singh remarked in an interview with IANS on this unique initiative, stating, “Beneficiary cards will be issued to prisoners on a large scale, facilitating the transfer of government benefits to them.”
The District Manager of Common Service Centre (CSC), Bharat Nagar, mentioned that this initiative is being executed according to the directives of the district administration. Mandsaur District Jail is possibly the first in Madhya Pradesh to create Ayushman cards for prisoners through CSC.
Approximately 500 inmates are anticipated to benefit from the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Once registered, they will be eligible for the scheme's advantages, though financial assistance and other benefits will commence after their release.
Significantly, Ayushman Bharat cards have transformed the healthcare landscape in the country, especially for millions of impoverished and vulnerable families.
