New Delhi, Oct 1 (NationPress) Maruti Suzuki India Limited, recognized as the largest car manufacturer in the country, reported a 3% increase in overall sales, achieving 1,89,665 units in September, compared to 1,84,727 units during the same month last year.
This growth was fueled by unprecedented exports, despite a decline in domestic sales attributed to logistical issues.
Within the domestic market, Maruti sold 1,35,711 units last month, a decrease from 1,48,061 units in September 2024.
Sales to other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) rose to 11,750 units, up from 8,938 units a year prior.
Exports stole the spotlight, surging 52% to an unprecedented monthly high of 42,204 units, compared to 27,728 units last year.
The company noted that customer confidence has improved significantly following the implementation of GST reforms.
Furthermore, the ongoing Navratri festive season has already seen record deliveries of 1,65,000 units within the first eight days.
Throughout the first half of FY26 (April–September), Maruti’s total sales reached 10.78 lakh units, a slight increase from 10.63 lakh units during the same period last year.
In a parallel development, Nissan Motor India reported impressive sales in September, with consolidated volumes of 10,500 units, marking a 9.3% year-on-year increase.
Domestic wholesale sales accounted for 1,652 units, while exports soared to 8,872 units, including a record 1,120 units shipped to South Asia — the highest sales in the region for Nissan.
The sales momentum was bolstered by the government’s revised GST slabs.
Nissan passed the complete GST benefit to customers, reducing the price of the New Magnite by up to Rs 1 lakh. This strategy, coupled with festive demand, significantly boosted sales.
September also marked the launch of a segment-first 10-year extended warranty for the New Magnite, which boasts a 5-star GNCAP safety rating.
Nissan reported overwhelming customer responses to its Kuro Special Edition and a new Metallic Grey color option.
Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director of Nissan Motor India, emphasized that the robust sales and record exports underline India’s expanding status as a global hub for Nissan.
He added that the company is broadening its dealership network and gearing up to introduce new products, including an all-new 7-seater B-MPV, a 5-seater C-SUV, and a 7-seater C-SUV.
