Is Mayawati Really Dismissing Alliance Talks for 2027?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Lucknow, Feb 18 (NationPress) The leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party, Mayawati, has decisively dismissed any notion of forming alliances for the upcoming 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. She labeled current speculations as “fake news” and a form of politically charged propaganda, emphasizing that the BSP will independently contest the elections with the goal of establishing a full majority government.
In a statement to the media on Wednesday, the BSP chief criticized reports suggesting that the party is open to alliances, calling them “misleading, fabricated, and deceptive”. She reiterated her previous declarations that the BSP's strategy for the 2027 elections will rely solely on its own strength.
Referring to the significant rally held in Lucknow on October 9, 2025, commemorating the death anniversary of the party’s founder, Kanshi Ram, Mayawati pointed out that it was clearly stated during the event that the party has no interest in forming electoral partnerships. She accused opposition parties of deliberately spreading rumors as part of an “anti-BSP conspiracy”.
She specifically criticized the Congress, Samajwadi Party, and BJP, arguing that their policies do not align with the principles of Babasaheb Ambedkar and that any potential alliances are motivated solely by political expediency.
Mayawati asserted that previous alliances have negatively impacted the BSP, and under the initiative “Mission 2027”, party members are concentrating on fortifying the organization independently.
Addressing the controversy surrounding the allocation of a Type-8 bungalow in Delhi, Mayawati clarified that her earlier assignment of a high-security residence stemmed from security threats. She referenced the June 2, 1995, incident at the Lucknow State Guest House, explaining that her security status was elevated following that event, leading to the current bungalow allocation.
She mentioned that the new residence was provided as a replacement for the previously allocated Type-8 bungalow at 3 Thyagaraj Marg and criticized attempts to politicize the matter.
As elections approach, Mayawati warned that rival parties would employ various strategies to undermine the BSP. She urged party workers and supporters to ignore the rumors and to enhance grassroots mobilization, aiming to replicate the party’s majority victory in 2007.
Calling for renewed dedication, she encouraged her cadres to work diligently to uphold the ideology of Ambedkar and advance the movement.
