Patna, Oct 1 (NationPress) Bihar’s Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary emphasized on Wednesday that the minority community in the state is increasingly aligning with the NDA and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, attributing this to the CM’s sustained commitment to minority welfare.
In a discussion with reporters in Patna, Choudhary remarked, “Over the past two decades, Nitish Kumar has dedicated himself to the welfare of the minority community. They hold his efforts in high regard, leading to a significant shift towards the NDA.”
The minister highlighted a meeting conducted by the JD(U) minority cell at the party office in Patna on Wednesday, where leaders strategized for upcoming campaigns.
“We are planning to reach out to people throughout Bihar to inform them about the welfare initiatives that Nitish Kumar has implemented for minorities. We aim to address any uncertainties they may have,” Choudhary stated.
Emphasizing the effectiveness of Nitish Kumar’s policies, he claimed that no other state government in India has implemented as many welfare programs for minorities.
“The achievements under Nitish Kumar’s guidance are exemplary. Awareness is increasing within the community, and misinformation will no longer sway them,” the JD(U) leader asserted.
Choudhary enumerated several initiatives launched under Nitish Kumar’s leadership, such as enhancing security and preventing encroachment around graveyards, increasing salaries for Madarsa teachers, establishing residential schools and hostels for minority students, and improving health and education systems in minority-dominant areas.
These comments from the JD(U) leader arrive as Bihar gears up for Assembly elections, deemed critical for the party's future.
Experts suggest that the NDA is making a focused effort to attract minority voters, who have historically supported opposition parties.
In Bihar, minorities represent a vital voting bloc, particularly in the Seemanchal region.
According to a caste-based survey conducted by the Nitish Kumar government during the Grand Alliance’s tenure, the minority community accounts for approximately 18 percent of Bihar’s population, with the majority being Muslims.
