New Delhi, Dec 4 (NationPress) CEO of BlueKraft Digital Foundation, Akhilesh Mishra, on Thursday challenged Congress general secretary K.C. Venugopal and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi regarding their assertion that the government was preventing foreign dignitaries from meeting the LoP before Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit.
Rahul Gandhi previously claimed that the Modi government and the Ministry of External Affairs were neglecting the “long-standing tradition” of foreign leaders meeting the Opposition leader, labeling this behavior as a sign of “insecurity.”
Venugopal supported this assertion, stating on X that these meetings are crucial to India's democratic and diplomatic culture, yet the government seems to prefer its own agenda.
In a decisive rebuttal, Mishra dismissed these allegations and redirected the focus towards the Congress leadership. He argued that if the party wishes to invoke traditions, it must also take responsibility for the numerous conventions it has allegedly undermined over time.
Mishra highlighted that Congress leaders have questioned electoral mandates in a manner unprecedented for any national party, claiming that this “election denialism” has become central to the party's political strategy.
He also recalled instances when prominent Congress figures expressed skepticism about the integrity of India’s armed forces and military leadership, particularly during India-Pakistan tensions, which he deemed a violation of another fundamental national tradition.
Moreover, he accused Rahul Gandhi of soliciting Western nations for intervention in India’s internal matters, viewing this as an even graver breach of established norms.
He connected this behavior to what he described as the Congress’s deterioration of the long-standing political consensus on terrorism, alleging that Congress leaders have defended individuals with extremist affiliations, including those linked to Pakistan.
Mishra contended that constitutional bodies, from the Supreme Court to the Election Commission, have frequently been subjected to what he termed the Congress’s “vituperative politics,” thus eroding yet another cornerstone of India’s democratic traditions.
“So @kcvenugopalmp ji, you can’t choose to dismiss every other time-tested tradition while insisting that some be adhered to according to your preferences. Rahul Gandhi must earn his place to represent India on international platforms. He has done nothing to deserve it and has actively worked to be excluded from it,” Mishra stated.
