Aizawl, June 23 (NationPress) The Governor of Mizoram, Gen V.K. Singh (Retd), spearheaded the state-level ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Plantation Drive, 2025’, on Monday. This initiative, organized by the State Hub for Empowerment of Women (SHEW) under the Directorate of Women and Child Development, emphasizes the commitment to empower and educate girl children.

Accompanied by Social Welfare, Women and Child Development Minister Lalrinpuii and other officials, the Governor planted Ashoka trees as a symbol of dedication towards the protection and education of girl children, merging social advancement with environmental responsibility.

During his address, Gen Singh remarked that the tree plantation is part of the government of India’s flagship program Mission Shakti, reflecting the essential need to empower young girls while promoting environmental sustainability.
