The Governor inaugurated the 'LESDE Kût 2026 – Accelerating Innovation, Empowering Entrepreneurs' on Tuesday.
This five-day event, organized by the Labour, Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (LESDE) Department, runs from February 10 to 14 at Lammual ground in Aizawl.
During his address, the Governor highlighted that the state's economic development relies on creating new livelihood opportunities, empowering youth through skill development, supporting entrepreneurial growth, and effectively including women and rural communities.
He underscored the importance of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector as a crucial growth driver for the nation, noting that India stands out globally as one of the fastest-growing economies in this sector and can be a model for others.
The Governor stressed the necessity of extending MSME activities to even the most remote villages. He noted that the accompanying Job Fair will play a significant role in connecting job seekers with employers, particularly focusing on the youth's requirements.
In today's fast-paced, technology-driven economy, he mentioned that skills must be continuously enhanced. General Singh (Retd) encouraged government officials to assist entrepreneurs as much as possible while emphasizing sustainability and quality.
The Governor called for proactive execution of various central government schemes to ensure that their benefits are effectively delivered to the people.
He urged the citizens of Mizoram to take advantage of the state's peaceful environment, abundant natural resources, and skilled populace to turn it into a center of sustainable and inclusive development.
LESDE Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar stated in his speech that innovation is not limited to advanced technology but also arises from addressing local needs with new businesses, services, and ideas.
He described the LESDE Department as closely linked to people's daily lives and highlighted the need for supportive and market-oriented skills to secure employment for the youth of Mizoram.
The Minister explained that the LESDE Kut (with 'Kut' meaning festival in Mizo) aims to inspire both job seekers and employers through interactive engagement. He expressed optimism that the effective implementation of 'Eizawnna Kailawn' and 'Rahbi Chhertu' would create new opportunities and significantly enhance livelihoods for the people of Mizoram.
Hmar also encouraged the public to register with the Mizoram Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
