Kolkata, Aug 19 (NationPress) A young model has filed a police report against two individuals, accusing them of gang raping her under the pretense of offering her a role in a film.
The complaint was registered at Kasba Police Station in south Kolkata, where the young woman recounted that she was taken to various locations in the Kasba area and subjected to multiple instances of gang rape. Although the alleged incidents occurred in 2023, she approached the police only last night.
Kolkata Police's Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), Rupesh Kumar, stated, "On Monday night, a young woman visited the Kasba police station and submitted a gang-rape complaint. A formal case has been initiated against the two suspects, and an investigation is underway."
Authorities are also looking into whether any figures from the film industry are affiliated with the accused.
The model claims that the events unfolded in 2023 when she was befriended by the two suspects via social media. They posed as film producers and convinced her that they could secure her a position in both Tollywood and Bollywood. They built her trust by asserting they had connections with actors in the industry.
"The victim alleged that the two men took her to various parties within the entertainment sector. Under the guise of helping her secure a movie role, they led her to different locations in Kasba and engaged in non-consensual physical relations with her. Later, she discovered she had been deceived," the police commented.
It has come to light that neither individual is a legitimate producer, nor do they have any ties with artists in the entertainment industry. The young woman claims she attempted to contact them multiple times afterward, but they allegedly cut off all communication.
Sources indicate that preparations are being made for the woman's medical examination.
Incidentally, this incident follows a similar case a few months ago, where another girl was reportedly gang-raped at a law college in the Kasba area, leading to the arrest of an alumnus and two current students.
