Calgary (Canada), June 15 (NationPress) The Indian community in Canada is filled with pride and excitement as Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares to visit for the upcoming G7 Summit in Kananaskis, following an invitation from Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
This visit signifies a crucial diplomatic thaw after a year marked by strained relations between the two nations.
Indian Canadians view this as a pivotal moment.
Businessman Rajesh Jaiswal conveyed his community's enthusiasm and respect for PM Modi’s leadership, stating, "Hinduism has flourished under PM Modi's guidance. He has elevated India to unprecedented heights. Initially, we were disheartened by his absence at the G7, but our joy knew no bounds upon hearing he would attend this time," he remarked.
Jaiswal also condemned misinformation campaigns aimed at damaging India's reputation abroad. "Certain individuals attempt to mislead, but the truth is becoming clear. Both India and Canada are advancing and must collaborate. We take immense pride in having a Prime Minister like Modi; there is no substitute for him," he added, emphasizing that India’s emergence as the world’s fourth-largest economy is not just a national milestone but a global accomplishment.
Rohan Sankhe, an IT professional in Calgary, resonated with these views.
"Over the last decade, India has established itself as a global powerhouse, thanks to PM Modi. Countries are eager to partner with India. Mark Carney's invitation to Modi showcases his understanding of the need for collaboration, a departure from past leaders. It’s a strategic decision," he stated.
Referencing a popular Bollywood film, Sankhe compared the diplomatic renewal to a fresh start: "In '12th Fail', there’s a line about starting over when things go awry. Canada is doing just that under new leadership, rekindling ties with India."
"India maintained its composure without resorting to ego during the turbulent times. Instead of retaliation, a calm approach was adopted to enhance relations. This balanced strategy from both nations is leading to visible progress," he remarked.
Sankhe praised India’s infrastructural and technological advancements under Modi’s stewardship, asserting, “Had India progressed at this rate since 1947, it would already be among the top three developed nations globally. Whenever we return to India, the growth is palpable.”
Both emphasized India’s crucial role in technology, education, medicine, and diplomacy. "Every nation desires India as an ally," Sankhe noted. "Canada must bolster bilateral trade, cultural connections, and educational exchanges with India. Frankly, besides India, Canada has no viable alternatives left."
The Indian diaspora in Canada perceives PM Modi's visit as more than just a diplomatic occasion; it symbolizes a rejuvenation of trust, partnership, and mutual prosperity between two burgeoning democracies.
