Bhopal, July 1 (NationPress) The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, on Tuesday, sanctioned a series of substantial development projects aimed at enhancing infrastructure, education, and rural livelihoods throughout the state.
In a pivotal decision, the Cabinet authorized the formation of a campus for the Defence University -- Rashtriya Raksha Vishwavidyalaya (RRU) in Bhopal. This national security and policing university, currently based in Gujarat, will be provided with 10 acres of land within the Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV) campus.
Until the permanent facilities are established, RRU will utilize the existing infrastructure at RGPV. The state government has pledged Rs 1.05 crore annually for three years to facilitate the university's launch.
Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla stated that this institute will create more employment opportunities and enhance skill development in national security for the youth in Madhya Pradesh, simultaneously elevating the state's profile in higher education.
Additionally, the Cabinet sanctioned Rs 4,572 crore for the restoration and reconstruction of 1,766 damaged bridges under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). These bridges, designed to improve rural connectivity, have fallen into disrepair, hindering transportation and access in numerous areas. The Madhya Pradesh Rural Road Development Authority will manage the repair efforts.
Another significant resolution was the initiation of the Vrindavan Gram Yojana, which aims to develop a model village in each of the state's 230 assembly constituencies.
These 'Vrindavan Villages' will adhere to 27 development standards, incorporating essential amenities, sustainable infrastructure, and community services. Furthermore, the Cabinet approved the “Ek Bagiya Maa Ke Naam” scheme to promote women-led horticulture and environmental sustainability.
As part of this initiative, 30,000 women from self-help groups will cultivate 30 lakh fruit-bearing plants across 30,000 acres. The state will allocate Rs 900 crore towards the project, which includes funding for saplings, fertilizers, fencing, irrigation, and training.
The plantation drive, in line with the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, will take place from July 1 to September 15, with participation from multiple departments including Panchayat and Rural Development, Urban Development, Forest, and Horticulture.
