New Delhi, Jan 15 (NationPress) - Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and the visionary behind AI firm xAI, has stated that he is not aware of any cases where Grok, the chatbot developed by xAI, has produced sexualized images of minors. Musk expressed on the X platform, "I am not aware of any naked underage images generated by Grok. Literally zero. Clearly, Grok does not spontaneously create images; it only responds to user requests."
Musk's remarks follow regulatory scrutiny regarding reports suggesting that Grok had fulfilled requests to digitally undress images of actual individuals, including alleged instances involving minors. He emphasized that Grok generates images solely in response to user prompts and is programmed to reject illegal requests, asserting that it "follows the laws of any given country or state."
"When asked to generate images, it will refuse to create anything illegal, as Grok's guiding principle is to adhere to the laws of any jurisdiction," the tech mogul stated. He further noted, "There may be occasions when adversarial hacking of Grok prompts leads to unexpected outcomes. If that occurs, we address the issue immediately."
X has recently implemented new restrictions prohibiting Grok from altering images of real people in provocative attire and limiting the ability to create and edit images through the Grok account to paid subscribers.
Musk was responding to a thread that claimed "only left-wing and Labour MPs and supporters" had come across the images that sparked the controversy, questioning, "Why are their algorithms sending it to them?" Musk dismissed the notion that the chatbot could independently generate illegal content.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) previously admonished X Corp for failing to prevent the creation and dissemination of obscene, nude, and indecent content on its platform. The government instructed X Corp to submit an action taken report (ATR) “toward immediate compliance for the prevention of hosting, generation, publication, transmission, sharing, or uploading of obscene, nude, indecent, and explicit content through the misuse of AI-based services such as ‘Grok’ and xAI’s other offerings.”
