New Delhi, Jan 11 (NationPress) X Corp, owned by Elon Musk, has recognized the existence of inappropriate images on its platform, primarily generated by its Grok AI. The company has pledged to adhere to Indian regulations and eliminate such content.
As per official sources reported on Sunday, the platform has taken action by blocking approximately 3,500 pieces of content and suspending over 600 accounts linked to the issue. It was further stated that moving forward, X will prohibit obscene imagery.
Previously, X Corp had provided a formal response to the Government concerning a notice regarding the generation of non-consensual sexual content by its Grok AI chatbot.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) reprimanded X Corp for not adequately preventing the production and distribution of obscene, nude, and inappropriate content on its platform.
The government mandated X Corp to submit an action taken report (ATR) to ensure immediate compliance to prevent the hosting, generation, publication, transmission, sharing, or uploading of obscene and explicit material through AI services like 'Grok' within a span of 72 hours.
The directive emphasizes that any failure to comply will be taken seriously and could lead to severe legal repercussions against the platform, its responsible officials, and users violating the law, without any additional notice, as per the IT Act and other relevant laws.
The ministry also instructed X to conduct a thorough assessment of Grok's technical and governance structures to avert the generation of unlawful content. It highlighted the necessity for Grok to enforce stringent user policies, including the suspension and termination of violators, and called for the immediate removal of all offending content without compromising evidence.
X Corp reiterated its commitment to combating illegal content on its social media platform, including Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), and is collaborating with local governments and law enforcement as necessary.
Musk also stated that anyone utilizing Grok to produce illegal content will face the same repercussions as if they had uploaded illegal material themselves.
