New Delhi, Dec 13 (NationPress) The chief of the Minority Cell for the Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar faction), Syed Jalaluddin, expressed on Saturday that, despite being affiliated with an NDA party, he perceives that Muslims in the nation are experiencing significant discrimination. He also criticized the film ‘Dhurandhar’, claiming it portrays Muslims in a negative light.
In his remarks, Jalaluddin commended Maulana Mahmood Madani, the leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, for his recent comments regarding ‘jihad’, asserting that the cleric has effectively articulated the sentiments and struggles faced by the Muslim community.
In light of the political uproar surrounding Madani’s statements, Jalaluddin remarked to IANS, “I fully align with the Maulana’s viewpoint. He has consistently highlighted the feelings and suffering of the community, and this is commendable. His statements hold great accuracy.”
He also emphasized that his comments should not be misconstrued as backing the narrative of ‘love jihad’.
“My discussion centers on the reality that the current atmosphere in the country has led to Muslims feeling helpless and distressed. ‘Jihad’ signifies raising a voice against injustice, not advocating violence,” he stated.
Jalaluddin reiterated his belief that Muslims are being treated unfairly, despite his affiliation with the NDA. “Even as a member of a party that supports the NDA government, I assert that Muslims are being wronged. The discriminatory attitude towards Muslims is unjustifiable,” he articulated.
On the topic of the arrests related to the recent Delhi blast case, he remarked that investigations should strictly follow legal protocols. “Anyone involved should undergo a thorough and fair investigation as per the law. However, if actions are taken merely for harassment, it is unacceptable. Innocent individuals should not face undue scrutiny,” he added.
Regarding the film ‘Dhurandhar’, he expressed disappointment, stating, “It is unfortunate that this trend is prevalent nowadays. Films such as ‘The Kashmir Files’ and ‘The Kerala Story’ are created with the intent to misrepresent Muslims. I strongly condemn this mindset. There should be an end to the negative portrayal of Muslims in cinema, as films like ‘Dhurandhar’ aim to tarnish their image.”
