Mumbai, March 18 (NationPress) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde unequivocally denounced the mob violence in Nagpur, emphasizing that strict measures will be taken against those responsible.

"This incident appears to be entirely premeditated. While there are typically vehicles present in the Mobinpura area, their absence yesterday is indicative of this fact," Dy CM Shinde stated during his address in the state council and subsequently in the state Assembly.

"The mob assaulted residences, ignited fires, and inflicted significant damage to property. Several individuals needed rescue. Law enforcement faced stone pelting, and some were attacked with axes. Even fire brigade personnel were assaulted. Such occurrences are deeply regrettable," he remarked. "Images from certain temples were burned, which is an extremely serious issue. The police will delve into the underlying causes, and stringent action will be enforced against the offenders," he further cautioned.

"Nagpur is a city known for its harmony, yet there appears to be an agenda to disrupt societal peace. It is crucial for everyone to uphold tranquility and collaborate," Dy CM Shinde urged.

In a critique of the endorsement for Aurangzeb, the Deputy CM remarked, "Whose side is Aurangzeb on? Those protestors should educate themselves on the legacy of Sambhaji Maharaj. Advocating for Aurangzeb is tantamount to treason. His grave represents a blemish on Maharashtra, and this stain must be eradicated, reflecting the sentiments of the populace," he asserted.

Furthermore, targeting Samajwadi Party legislator Abu Azmi, Dy CM Shinde stated, "He is advocating for specific votes; a case should be initiated against him, and he must be suspended."

Azmi has been suspended until the conclusion of the current budget session of the state legislature after he asserted that Aurangzeb was a competent administrator.

"Measures should also be taken against Harshvardhan Sakpal (state Congress chief), who likened the Chief Minister to Aurangzeb. If the populace does not act, at least their sentiments should be safeguarded," he concluded.
