Nagpur, March 22 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, who is also responsible for the Home department, revealed on Saturday that the expenses incurred due to the Nagpur violence will be reclaimed from the rioters.

"If the rioters fail to pay the compensation, their assets will be liquidated. Such behavior will not be tolerated in Maharashtra. This is our approach to ensuring justice against rioters," he stated.

In a comprehensive meeting with the Nagpur police commissioner and senior officials, CM Fadnavis assessed the law and order conditions following the violent incidents.

According to police reports, a young individual who sustained injuries during the unrest succumbed to his wounds on Saturday.

The Chief Minister elaborated, "During the discussion, we reviewed the entire incident and the subsequent actions taken. Some clarifications were provided in the Assembly. The symbolic grave of Aurangzeb was set ablaze in the morning, which led to complaints from certain individuals. The police documented these complaints. However, during the burning of the symbolic grave, a sheet inscribed with Quranic verses was also ignited, which led to misinformation being spread on social media, resulting in a large gathering."

He continued, "The mob caused destruction, vandalized vehicles, and attacked individuals. The police managed to control the situation within approximately 4-5 hours. They employed tear gas and other preventive methods. Actions are underway to apprehend the rioters identified in CCTV, mobile footage, and recordings from journalists. So far, around 104 individuals have been recognized, with 92 arrests made, including actions against some minors."

The Chief Minister pointed out that a warning has been issued to those producing provocative podcasts, with police action being initiated against them.

"By monitoring social media, all individuals who contributed to the incident will be treated as co-accused alongside the rioters. Approximately 68 posts have been identified and removed. We are gathering information on additional posts. Those who disseminate rumors and incite violence will face consequences," he added.

"Some restrictions are currently in place, impacting public life and commerce. Efforts are being made to ease these restrictions. The police will remain vigilant, and any attempts to incite violence will be met with strict measures," he cautioned.
