In an effort to inspire more residents to embrace solar energy, the district administration recognized 60 outstanding consumers with the Solar Energy Pioneer Award. These individuals were acknowledged for their initiative and for encouraging friends and family to make the switch.
During a ceremony at the Town Hall, District Magistrate Kundan Kumar awarded certificates of appreciation to these proactive citizens, alongside five contractors who excelled in their services. Beneficiaries of the PM Surya Ghar scheme expressed their delight, sharing how their electricity costs have dropped to zero since installing solar panels, leading to a more relaxed lifestyle.
DM Kundan Kumar highlighted that Nalanda is second in Bihar for adopting the PM Surya Ghar scheme, with over 900 residents having embraced solar energy thus far.
Executive Engineer Vikas Kumar mentioned that the government provides a subsidy of Rs 78,000 for solar connections up to 3 kilowatts under this program. He also stated plans for the upcoming financial year, which include crediting consumers' accounts for surplus electricity generated.
Superintending Engineer Manish Kant announced the goal of installing solar systems in an additional 2,000 homes in the district by the end of the current financial year, with campaigns planned across various areas.
Several individuals were celebrated at the event, such as Sandeep Kumar from Kashi Takia, Anita Devi from Kishan Bagh, Anil Kumar from Sakunat Kala, Mohd. Amiyaj Jafri from Badi Khasganj, Soni Kumari from Kalyan Bigha, and Shambhulal Vishwakarma from Chandi.
Many beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the Modi government for the significant reduction in their electricity bills. Sushila Kumari shared that her family is now self-sufficient. Rishabh Kumar noted a dramatic decrease in power outages, while Surendra Kumar remarked, “Previously, our monthly bill was between Rs 1500 and 1800. Now, it’s zero, and we live stress-free.”
