PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme: Awareness Event Conducted in Motihari, Bihar

Patna, Dec 16 (NationPress) An informative program was conducted in the district of Motihari, Bihar, focusing on the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme and its benefits for the common citizen.

The event, part of the Solar Energy Initiative, attracted a substantial crowd.

Throughout the day-long gathering, numerous officials involved with solar energy systems provided insights into the central government initiative and encouraged attendees to take advantage of the scheme.

Representatives from various companies, along with industry experts, detailed the numerous advantages of solar energy and explained how transitioning from non-renewable sources to solar power is both straightforward and cost-effective.

They also presented calculations demonstrating how solar energy can significantly reduce household electricity costs.

“Individuals will not only save on their electricity bills but can also sell any excess electricity generated. For the installation, a subsidy of Rs 78,000 will be provided,” they stated.

Solar energy specialist Abhishek Lohia informed reporters that the government aims to extend the scheme to every region of the nation.

“A maximum subsidy of Rs 78,000 is available for systems up to three kilowatts. If you install a three-kilowatt solar rooftop, the subsidy will be directly credited to your bank account. You will need to pay the remaining amount. This will reduce your electricity bill by 80 to 90 percent,” he explained.

He further mentioned that the government plans to cover over 1 crore households in the first phase of the initiative.

“This will not only lower their electricity expenses but will also allow them to generate income by selling excess electricity,” he added.

The PM Surya Ghar: Free Electricity Scheme is a groundbreaking program launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 15, 2024.

Its goal is to revolutionize India's energy framework by providing complimentary electricity to households.

The initiative aims to empower millions of households with solar energy, targeting 10 lakh households by March 2025 and expanding to 1 crore by March 2027.
