Does Naomi Watts Experience Imposter Syndrome?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Los Angeles, Oct 14 (NationPress) British actress Naomi Watts has revealed her struggles with imposter syndrome. The 57-year-old star shared her feelings while being celebrated with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in recognition of her remarkable contributions to cinema. The Mulholland Drive actress expressed that this honor felt completely unexpected.
Before the ceremony, she stated, "I can’t even believe it. It’s interesting, because I have all kinds of imposter syndrome. I’ve always felt like I’m supposed to struggle, I’m supposed to keep proving myself, and this sort of just came out of the blue. It’s really lovely.”
During the award ceremony, Naomi expressed gratitude towards her husband Billy Crudup for his "phenomenal love and support," as well as to her children Sasha (18) and Kai (16), from her former marriage to actor Liev Schreiber, along with her stepson Will, as reported by ‘Female First UK’.
She shared with ‘Variety’, “I struggled for so long. I’m more familiar with challenges than with this amazing good fortune and celebrations like this. It’s wonderful.”
Naomi praised her son Sasha for attending the ceremony straight from his classes at the University of Southern California, saying, "I’m so proud of my kids. My son Sasha, a freshman at USC, is here straight from class. He rolled in, and he’s blossoming into the kindest, most charismatic young man.”
She described Kai as "fierce and fearless" and commended Will for "following in his father’s footsteps" as he prepares for college graduation.
Following their marriage in 2023, Billy shared insights on their mutual support in their relationship, stating, "We’ve been doing this for a long time. I think we have some idea of how each of us manages our careers, and so we do the best that we can to just be supportive of the other person's agenda.”
The couple noted that it is "much easier" to attend Hollywood events together.
