Srinagar, Nov 25 (NationPress) The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) successfully dismantled a Marijuana supply operation in Jammu & Kashmir, resulting in the arrest of three individuals involved.
An official communiqué indicated that the NCB, Srinagar Zone, has effectively dismantled a narcotics distribution network operating in the Baramulla–Pulwama area, with the seizure of 2.730 kilograms of charas and the apprehension of three suspects, including the primary supplier.
Acting on credible intelligence, on November 20, an NCB team intercepted Bashir Ahmad Malla, a resident of Dhobiwan under the jurisdiction of Kunzer Police Station, District Baramulla, and recovered 2.730 kg of charas from him.
“Following sustained interrogation and quick follow-up action, in collaboration with Baramulla Police at the Kunzer Police Station, the NCB team arrested his close associate, Mansoor Ahmad Wani, also from Dhobiwan, who was deeply involved in the supply chain,” the statement mentioned.
The NCB Srinagar acknowledged the robust support and prompt cooperation provided by Baramulla Police, emphasizing that their proactive assistance was crucial for the successful implementation of the operation and further enhanced inter-agency collaboration in the area.
“Based on the revelations from both suspects and subsequent operational intelligence, the principal supplier, Abdul Rashid Dar, was nabbed in Pulwama, thereby exposing the complete trafficking network,” it added.
The statement further noted that all apprehended individuals have a prior criminal record related to Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) cases. With the detention of the mastermind, his associate, and the supplier, the entire module responsible for the procurement, transportation, and distribution of the confiscated drugs has been dismantled.
“Ongoing investigations aim to uncover backward and forward connections, financial trails, and any inter-state links,” it stated.
The establishment of the NCB office in Srinagar aligns with the Government of India's strategic effort to enhance narcotics enforcement in Jammu & Kashmir.
“The NCB urges citizens to assist in the fight against drugs. Individuals can confidentially report any information related to narcotics trafficking by calling the MANAS – National Narcotics Helpline: Toll-Free 1933. Caller identities will be kept strictly confidential,” concluded the statement.
