Police Detain Five Drug Traffickers in Baramulla, J&K

Srinagar, Jan 12 (NationPress) Five drug traffickers have been apprehended in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, as reported by officials on Sunday. They confirmed that illicit substances were seized from their possession.
A statement from the police noted, “In an ongoing effort to eliminate the drug menace in society, the police have arrested five drug traffickers in Baramulla and confiscated contraband substances from them. A police team from the Chandoosa Police Station, led by the SHO, set up a checkpoint at Thanda Kasi Chandoosa, where they stopped one individual. Upon searching him, they recovered 56 grams of Charas-like contraband substances.”
The individual was identified as Mohd Shaban Maray from Dudbugh and was subsequently taken into custody.
“In another instance, a police unit from Police Station Boniyar, under the guidance of their SHO, set up a checkpoint at Limber Boniyar and intercepted two individuals. During their search, 88 grams of Charas-like contraband substances were found on them,” the statement added.
These individuals were identified as Mehraj Ahmad from Limber and Shabir Ahmad Bakerwal from Babagail Limber, both of whom were arrested.
“Additionally, a police team from Police Post Babareshi, stationed at a checkpoint at Babareshi Crossing, apprehended two more individuals. A search revealed 85 grams of Charas-like contraband substances in their possession. They were identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Magray and Dawood Ahmad Magray, sons of Gh Rasool Magray, both residents of Dudbugh, and were also taken into custody.”
Consequently, cases have been registered under relevant laws at Police Stations Chandoosa, Boniyar, and Tangmarg, and investigations are underway.
“We urge the public to report any instances of drug trafficking or other criminal activities they observe. Please contact the nearest police station or call 112. The community is encouraged to assist the police in tackling the drug issue in our society. We assure community members that the police will take strict action against offenders as per the law,” the statement concluded.
