Srinagar, April 15 (NationPress) Authorities in Anantnag district, Jammu and Kashmir, announced on Wednesday the dismantling of several drug trafficking operations, leading to the recovery of a substantial amount of Charas (Marijuana) and the detention of numerous suspects.

According to an official report, the Anantnag Police achieved a significant breakthrough in a series of coordinated raids throughout the area, seizing considerable quantities of illegal substances and detaining various individuals implicated in these activities.

In one notable operation, officers from Police Station Srigufwara, acting on credible intelligence, conducted a raid at the home of Naseer Ahmad in Shirhama, where they confiscated 6.614 kilograms of charas. The suspect was not found at the scene, and efforts are ongoing to locate him. A formal case has been filed.

In another case, a police unit from Police Station Larnoo, while performing routine checks aimed at securing tourist areas at Bidhad Bridge, apprehended Hameed Sheikh, a resident of Sheikh Mohalla Vailoo Devalgam. During a search, 32 grams of charas were found in his possession. A case has been registered, and an inquiry has commenced.

Additionally, a checkpoint established by the Police Component Pahalgam on the Bijbehara-Pahalgam road resulted in the arrest of a motorcyclist named Danish Ahmad Kumar from Kralpora Kullar. Upon inspection, approximately 100 grams of a substance resembling charas was seized. The investigation is still ongoing.

In yet another operation, officers from Police Post Sangam stopped a vehicle (DL8CR 0936) at Panjpora and detained Taseen Ramzan Bhat from Batpora Marhama. During the search, police discovered 32 grams of charas in stick form and 292 grams of charas powder. A case has been opened under FIR No. 92/2026, invoking Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act.

Separately, police arrested Feroz Ahmad Mundu, a daily wager associated with the PDD Department, at Halmulla. Approximately 270 grams of charas powder were recovered from him. A case has been filed, and investigations are ongoing.
