How Did NCW Chief Celebrate Ahilyabai Holkar's Birth Anniversary?

Varanasi, May 31 (NationPress) On the occasion of the 300th birth anniversary of Ahilyabai Holkar, Vijaya Kishore Rahatkar, the Chairperson of the National Commission for Women (NCW), commended the significant strides made by women in various fields. She expressed her appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his commitment to enhancing women's development through targeted reforms and welfare initiatives.

"Over the past 11 years, the changes in women's lives have been remarkable. We now have a Prime Minister who prioritizes women's advancement and demonstrates profound concern for their well-being. He has emphasized women's health by ensuring the construction of toilets in every home," Rahatkar informed IANS.

She highlighted the Ujjwala Yojana as a pivotal program that has empowered women by improving their health and providing them with more time, which they can utilize to engage in work and achieve financial independence.

"Many have dedicated this time to working and earning, thus becoming financially self-sufficient. This empowerment strengthens them," she remarked, noting that initiatives like Mudra Yojana have enabled women to establish their own businesses and achieve self-reliance.

"Today, our women are excelling in every sector," Rahatkar stated, underlining the substantial increase in women's participation across various domains in recent years.

Moreover, the NCW is preparing to conduct a two-day event in the city to celebrate the 300th birth anniversary of Punyashloka Ahilya Devi Holkar, a distinguished ruler of the Holkar dynasty, celebrated for her visionary leadership and steadfast dedication to social welfare and women's empowerment.

The event is scheduled to take place at the RUDRAKSH – International Cooperation and Convention Centre on May 31, commemorating the significant occasion of Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar's birth anniversary.

Reflecting on Ahilyabai Holkar's legacy, she stated, "The NCW has been in Varanasi for two days, organizing various events. This year we celebrate Ahilyabai Holkar's 300th birth anniversary, with the NCW hosting activities throughout the year in different regions in various formats."

She emphasized that Ahilyabai's governance principles and public welfare policies are still pertinent today, and it is crucial for the public to recognize her contributions.

"The qualities of Ahilya Devi are timeless. Her policies remain significant in our work today. People should appreciate these values, which is why we have organized diverse programs," she explained.

As part of the commemorative activities, a special program was conducted in Kashi, featuring renowned poet and speaker Kumar Vishwas, who addressed the audience.

"Today marks her 300th anniversary. We have organized a program in Kashi, with Kumar Vishwas speaking about her legacy, and this will allow the entire region to reflect meaningfully on her contributions," Rahatkar concluded.
