New Delhi, March 1 (NationPress) Kuljeet Singh Chahal, the Vice Chairman of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), spearheaded the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ tree plantation initiative at Gandhi Sadan within the NDMC Housing Complex, Mandir Marg, on Sunday, with enthusiastic involvement from local residents, an official reported.

As participants engaged in planting saplings and made a commitment to nurture and safeguard them, Chahal noted that this initiative is inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, which urges citizens to plant a tree in tribute to their mothers and care for it with dedication.

During his address, Chahal highlighted that the campaign is being executed in a mission-oriented manner to maximize the enhancement of green spaces throughout the NDMC area, according to an official statement.

He mentioned that the drive has been actively pursued in embassies and diplomatic missions within the NDMC jurisdiction, as well as educational institutions and both commercial and residential zones, with participation from Market Traders Associations (MTAs) and Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs).

The aim is to reach every corner of the NDMC region, aligning with the Prime Minister’s vision for ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’ and to ensure green initiatives are undertaken wherever necessary for a cleaner and more sustainable urban environment, he said.

Chahal reiterated that community involvement is the most significant strength of this campaign.

He urged citizens, institutions, and organizations to actively engage in this green movement, contributing towards a cleaner, greener, and environmentally responsible New Delhi.

He also stated that the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” plantation efforts continue every Sunday, with ongoing endeavors to expand the green cover across the city.

Through organized planning and community involvement, plantation events are being conducted at strategically chosen locations, the statement mentioned.

Motivated by the Prime Minister’s appeal, this initiative reflects a commitment to sustainable urban growth through collective responsibility and community participation, Chahal asserted.
