Belagavi (Karnataka), Dec 10 (NationPress) The President of Karnataka BJP and MLA BY Vijayendra has expressed concerns that the Congress government is lagging in the development of North Karnataka, leading to a widespread sentiment that the region is being treated unjustly.
During an Assembly session on Wednesday, Vijayendra articulated that the government's indifference is compelling the populace to advocate for a separate state.
He stressed the necessity for equitable development, noting that the call for a separate state has been echoed multiple times.
"The region's advancement has been overlooked. The allocation of Krishna river water is inequitable, and there are rising concerns regarding the fairness of the Tungabhadra project," he stated, emphasizing that governmental neglect has incited widespread dissatisfaction.
Vijayendra criticized the administration's inability to provide quality seeds, adequate market facilities, and prompt compensation for farmers.
"The administration is neglecting critical issues such as price declines, compensation for losses, and the execution of irrigation projects," he urged, calling for immediate governmental intervention.
Concerning the Tungabhadra dam, Vijayendra demanded compensation of Rs 25,000 per acre for farmers affected and condemned the government's inaction. He also underscored the necessity for effective irrigation project rollouts and job creation.
Furthermore, he lambasted the government's failure to honor its electoral commitments, asserting that the region has been overlooked in budget allocations.
He called on the government to tackle unemployment issues and enhance the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) recruitment procedures.
"The government's negligence is compelling the citizens to advocate for a separate state. It is imperative for them to awaken and address these pressing issues," he cautioned.
"When my father, former CM B. S. Yediyurappa, was in office, he provided more than the set compensation to individuals who lost their homes to floods and also compensated for crop losses. In contrast, the current minister has neglected even to visit protesting sugarcane farmers," he criticized.
