New Delhi, Aug 17 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the importance of transforming New Delhi into a 'Vikas Model' (development model), asserting that the national capital should represent the aspirations of a nation striving to become 'Viksit' (developed).
During a large public gathering for the inauguration of the Dwarka Expressway and Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II), PM Modi congratulated the residents of New Delhi.
He noted that farmers and laborers would significantly benefit from these newly constructed projects.
In a cultural reference, he stated, "The highway is called Dwarka Expressway, the locality is Rohini, today's occasion is Janmashtami, and I happen to hail from the land of Dwarkadeesh. Poora mahaul bahot Krishnamay ho gaya hai (the entire atmosphere is filled with devotion towards Lord Krishna)".
Highlighting the infrastructure's significance, he said, "With the new connectivity of UER-II and Dwarka Expressway, life for NCR residents will improve. Commuting to workplaces will become much easier, saving valuable time. Our farmers, laborers, and business owners will gain immensely from this development."
Linking the projects to his Independence Day speech, PM Modi mentioned that India's economic growth is being acknowledged globally.
"The world is aware of what new India aims to achieve, and when they think of India, they first consider our capital, Delhi. That is why we must establish Delhi as a 'Vikas Model', showcasing its ambition to become 'Viksit'," he remarked.
Reflecting on the government's initiatives over the last 11 years, the Prime Minister noted that the BJP-led government has been tirelessly working to advance Delhi's development.
He cited advancements in infrastructure, stating, "In the past decade, Delhi-NCR has witnessed unprecedented improvements in connectivity, from expansive expressways to one of the world's largest metro systems and Namo Bharat. This demonstrates the ease of connectivity established in Delhi-NCR."
Earlier that day, PM Modi held an impressive roadshow at the Mundka-Bakkarwala Village Toll Plaza in New Delhi, just hours ahead of the launch of two major highway projects.
Numerous individuals lined the streets to catch a glimpse of the Prime Minister as he waved to the crowd.
During his visit, he also engaged with the workers involved in the highway construction, recognizing their contributions to the project.
The Prime Minister reviewed the UER-II progress alongside Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.
