New Delhi, Aug 16 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is poised to launch two significant National Highway projects in the heart of the national capital tomorrow, aimed at alleviating traffic congestion and enhancing connectivity within the Delhi-NCR region.
The two initiatives, with a collective estimated investment of approximately Rs 11,000 crore, are set to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister around 12:30 p.m. in Rohini, where he will also engage with the public.
The projects include the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway and the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II), both integral to the government’s strategy to reduce traffic congestion, enhance connectivity, minimize travel time, and ease vehicular movement in and around Delhi.
Spanning 10.1 km, the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway was constructed at an investment of around Rs 5,360 crore. This segment will facilitate multi-modal connectivity to Yashobhoomi, the DMRC Blue line and Orange line, the upcoming Bijwasan railway station, and the Dwarka cluster Bus Depot.
Out of the total 10 km stretch, 5.9 km will link the Shiv Murti intersection to Dwarka Sector-21, while the remaining 4.2 km will connect Dwarka Sector-21 to the Delhi-Haryana Border.
Previously, PM Modi had inaugurated the 19 km-long Haryana section of the Dwarka Expressway in March 2024.
The second initiative to be unveiled is the Alipur to Dichaon Kalan stretch of Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II), along with new connections to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat, developed at a cost of about Rs 5,580 crore.
This project is anticipated to alleviate traffic on Delhi's Inner and Outer Ring Roads, particularly at busy junctions such as Mukarba Chowk, Dhaula Kuan, and NH-09.
Moreover, it will provide direct access to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat, thus reducing traffic jams and facilitating faster goods transportation throughout the NCR, ultimately enhancing industrial connectivity.
These projects underscore the Centre's vision of establishing world-class infrastructure in the capital, which will improve the quality of life and ensure seamless mobility.
