New Delhi/Itanagar, Jan 2 (NationPress) The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has announced a significant reshuffle among senior IPS officers. Shiv Darshan Singh Jamwal, an officer from the 1995 batch, has been appointed as the new Director General of Police (DGP) for Arunachal Pradesh. In contrast, Mukesh Singh, a 1996-batch officer, will now serve as the DGP for Ladakh, as per an official notification.
The notification, sanctioned by the competent authority, reveals that the outgoing DGP of Arunachal Pradesh, Anand Mohan, a 1994-batch IPS officer, has been transferred to Delhi and is expected to join the Delhi Police.
Prior to his new assignment, Shiv Darshan Singh Jamwal was the DGP for Ladakh, while Mukesh Singh was serving on central deputation with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).
Before his central posting, Mukesh Singh held the position of Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the Jammu Range. He is originally from the Jammu and Kashmir cadre, which was merged into the Arunachal Pradesh–Goa–Mizoram–Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre after the abrogation of Article 370 and the bifurcation of the former state in 2019.
Before joining the ITBP, Singh had also been the Inspector General and subsequently the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for the Jammu Range.
All three of these IPS officers—Anand Mohan, Shiv Darshan Singh Jamwal, and Mukesh Singh—are part of the AGMUT cadre.
Anand Mohan was appointed as the DGP of Arunachal Pradesh in early June 2023, succeeding Satish Golcha, a 1992-batch AGMUT cadre IPS officer, who was later transferred to Delhi.
On June 7, 2023, the Union Home Ministry designated Shiv Darshan Singh Jamwal to lead the police in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
