Srinagar, Jan 2 (NationPress) Mukesh Singh has been appointed as the new DGP of Ladakh, succeeding S.D. Singh Jamwal, who has now taken over as DGP of Arunachal Pradesh.
A notification from the Union Home Ministry stated, “With the approval of the competent authority, the posting of the following IPS officers from the AGMUT cadre is effective immediately and until further orders.”
Mukesh Singh, an IPS officer from the 1996 AGMUT batch, has returned from central deputation to take on the role of DGP Ladakh. S.D. Singh Jamwal, who previously held this position, will now serve as DGP Arunachal Pradesh, replacing Anand Mohan (AGMUT: 1994), who has been reassigned to Delhi.
Mukesh Singh was born on January 24, 1971, in Bokaro Steel City, Bihar, now part of Jharkhand. He is an officer from the former J&K cadre, having served as IGP of Jammu Zone.
Holding a B.Tech in civil engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (Delhi), he joined the Indian Police Service in 1996 and has held various significant roles as a district superintendent of police in Reasi, Pulwama, Poonch, and Jammu during critical periods of terrorism.
S.D. Singh Jamwal holds a PhD in bio-terrorism and was born on May 3, 1969, in the Purani Mandi area of Jammu city in J&K.
As a senior Indian Police Service officer, he is renowned for his expertise in disaster management (CBRN), specifically in biological defense, and has spearheaded initiatives to modernize police stations and enhance community engagement.
