Patna, Nov 19 (NationPress) Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar officially resigned from his position to Governor Arif Mohammad Khan on Wednesday, asserting his claim to establish the forthcoming NDA government within the state.
Kumar arrived at the Raj Bhavan alongside prominent NDA figures, including Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Samrat Choudhary, Vijay Kumar Sinha, and several other leaders.
He presented a list comprising 202 newly elected MLAs to Arif Mohammad Khan to substantiate his claim for forming the next government.
The Bihar governor has formally invited him to take the reins of the next government.
Earlier in the day, Nitish Kumar was unanimously selected as the leader of the NDA legislative party during a gathering in the Central Hall of the Bihar Legislative Assembly.
Nitish Kumar is set to take his oath as Chief Minister on Thursday, November 20, during a grand event at Gandhi Maidan in Patna.
Before the NDA assembly, Nitish Kumar was also appointed as the leader during the JD(U) legislative party meeting.
In the BJP legislative party meeting, Samrat Chaudhary was appointed as the leader, with Vijay Kumar Sinha as the deputy leader.
Both leaders are expected to be sworn in as ministers and will function as Deputy Chief Ministers in the new government.
According to sources, approximately 20 ministers are likely to be inaugurated alongside Nitish Kumar.
The swearing-in ceremony will commence at 1 pm, with Governor Arif Mohammad Khan administering the oath at 1.30 pm.
The event is anticipated to be graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, various Union Ministers, Chief Ministers from multiple BJP-governed states, and other esteemed guests.
In preparation for the VVIP movement, extensive security and traffic management have been arranged from Patna Airport to Gandhi Maidan.
