This infamous criminal is a repeat offender, with involvement in nearly 50 criminal cases, encompassing robbery, snatching, theft, NDPS violations, and attempted murder, as reported by law enforcement officials.

On Sunday, acting on a tip-off, the Crime Branch swiftly located the hideout where he had been concealing himself and took him into custody. For an extended period, he had been changing residences to avoid being apprehended.

Information regarding Rahul Ranjan was provided by a police head constable, prompting the police team to mobilize and capture him in the Jahangirpuri locality.

A team led by Inspector K.K. Sharma, under the guidance of ACP Arvind Kumar and DCP Vikram Singh, initiated a manhunt to locate the fugitive. They raided his rented home in Jahangirpuri, where he was discovered living with his family.

Among the two charges leading to his arrest are robbery in the Janakpuri area and possession of arms, specifically live cartridges. Both incidents occurred approximately 10 years ago, and he had been declared a proclaimed offender for failing to appear in court.

In 2013, he was involved in snatching a purse from a woman as she parked her scooty. Along with an accomplice, he approached her from behind and seized her purse, which contained essential documents such as a voter card, ATM card, doctor slip, and a 15-gram gold chain. He was later apprehended, and the stolen items were recovered, yet he neglected to attend subsequent court hearings, leading to his status as a proclaimed offender.

In another case, the police had set a trap to apprehend him near the West Uttam Nagar Metro station, where he was caught while riding a motorcycle. A homemade pistol (315 bore) along with one live cartridge was seized from him. An FIR under the Arms Act was filed, and legal proceedings commenced.

Rahul Ranjan gained infamy after dropping out of school and began working in the transport sector, which led him to associate with seasoned criminals and engage in activities such as snatching and robbery.
