New Delhi, Oct 14 (NationPress) Home Minister Amit Shah commended the National Security Guard (NSG) during the elite force's 41st Raising Day ceremony held in Manesar, Haryana, referring to it as the nation's strongest defense against terrorism and organized crime.
As the NSG celebrates four decades of dedicated service, HM Amit Shah honored the brave security personnel who sacrificed their lives, stating, "We all remember those who laid down their lives for the country; I salute them on behalf of our entire nation."
The Home Minister recognized the NSG's essential contributions since its inception in 1984, emphasizing its critical interventions during significant incidents like the Akshardham temple attack, the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, and various hostage rescue operations. He reaffirmed its reputation as India's leading counter-terrorism force.
In his address, the Union Minister announced plans for a substantial expansion, including a new NSG hub in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, which will enhance the force's reach to seven major hubs nationwide, including Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Jammu, thereby improving response times to threats.
He underscored that NSG commandos would be stationed around the clock to counter any potential terror threats.
Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Home Minister declared India's commitment to a zero terrorism policy. He highlighted ongoing measures initiated since 2019 to protect the nation, including amendments to the UAPA and NIA Acts, enhancing the capabilities of the ED and PMLA to combat terror financing, and the establishment of scientific methods for investigating terror financing, along with the ban on the PFI.
Shah praised the government's decisive actions against terrorism, stating, "Terrorists may hide, but they cannot escape." He credited strategic measures such as the abrogation of Article 370, surgical strikes, and air strikes for targeting the core of terrorism.
He also highlighted two specific operations: Operation Sindoor, which dismantled Pakistani terror group bases, and Operation Mahadev, which targeted those responsible for past attacks.
In addition to enhancing security, the Home Minister noted the efforts of CAPF personnel, who have planted an impressive 6.50 crore new saplings since 2019, significantly contributing to the nation's greenery.
He laid the foundation stone for a Special Training Centre on 8 acres of land, with an investment of Rs 141 crore, aimed at providing cutting-edge training for commandos specializing in counter-terrorism.
