During her tenure, she held various ministerial roles, including those overseeing the Ministries of Commerce and Transport, as well as Fisheries and Animal Resources Development.
This marks her inaugural address to the Odisha Assembly since taking on the presidential role.
As per Assembly sources, the fifth session of the 17th Odisha Legislative Assembly will consist of 29 working days, concluding on December 31.
According to the agenda, the First Supplementary Statement of Expenditure (Budget) for the 2025–26 fiscal year is scheduled for presentation in the House on November 28.
Following this, the Appropriation Bill pertaining to the First Supplementary Statement of Expenditure is set to be introduced in the Assembly on December 8.
Upon passing, this bill will empower the state government to withdraw authorized additional funds from the consolidated fund of Odisha to facilitate supplementary allocations.
Political analysts predict that the upcoming Winter session will likely see vigorous debates between the ruling BJP and opposition parties, including the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Congress, on various pressing issues.
Opposition parties are expected to challenge the state government in the House over concerns such as violence against women, increasing crime rates, and the investigation report regarding the Ratha Yatra stampede.
The previous Monsoon Session, initially planned for seven working days, was adjourned on September 24, a day earlier than scheduled, following significant disruptions from opposition parties.
