Bhubaneswar, Nov 25 (NationPress) Comprehensive security measures have been implemented by the Commissionerate Police in anticipation of President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to Bhubaneswar, coinciding with the upcoming winter session of the Odisha Assembly, which is set to commence on Thursday.
The city will be fortified with a four-layer security framework to ensure the safety of President Murmu during her visit.
After reviewing the security protocols at the Odisha Assembly, Police Commissioner S Dev Datta Singh announced on Tuesday that the highlight of this session will be President Murmu's address to the assembly.
“Thus, we are establishing security measures for both the President’s visit and the assembly winter session. We have deployed 33 police platoons along with approximately 150 officers of various ranks for the Assembly session. Specialized teams, including the anti-terror squad, will be present in the assembly during the session,” Singh stated.
Additionally, Singh emphasized that an extra 25 police platoons would be positioned at crucial locations from the Airport to Raj Bhawan and from Raj Bhawan to the Odisha Assembly during the President of India’s visit.
“We have assessed the security arrangements at the assembly and provided directives for realignment at different locations. The Commissionerate Police is fully equipped for the President of India’s visit and the Assembly session,” asserted Singh.
The Winter Session of the Odisha Assembly is scheduled to begin on November 27. The fifth session of the 17th Odisha Legislative Assembly will consist of 29 working days, concluding on December 31.
According to the agenda, the First Supplementary Statement of Expenditure (Budget) for the financial year 2025–26 will be introduced in the House on November 28.
Political analysts predict that the upcoming winter session is poised for intense discussions between the ruling BJP and opposition parties, including the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Congress, concerning various issues.
