Bhubaneswar, April 16 (NationPress) The Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday discovered assets valued in crores during multiple raids connected to a senior government official in Angul district.

“Following allegations of holding assets disproportionate to his known income, simultaneous searches were executed at eight locations linked to Rama Chandra Satpathy, Assistant Executive Engineer, Athamallick Block in Angul district on April 16,” stated a senior vigilance official.

Searches took place at various locations, including Satpathy's residential property in Gayatri Nagar in Dhenkanal, his official quarters in Athamallick, his ancestral home in Banasingh under Sadar police limits in Dhenkanal, and his son-in-law's house in Junagarh, Kalahandi district.

The official noted that eight teams from Odisha Vigilance, including seven Deputy Superintendents of Police, 15 Inspectors, and other personnel, conducted the operation based on Search Warrants issued by the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack on Wednesday.

“During the search, authorities uncovered that Satpathy and his family possess assets like a double-storeyed building in Dhenkanal, a high-value plot in the Barang area of Cuttack district, and an additional 20 plots in and around Dhenkanal town,” he mentioned.

Insiders revealed that the true value of the land is expected to exceed the Registered Sale Deed (RSD) value, which is around Rs. 60 to 85 lakhs.

The Vigilance Technical Wing is currently measuring and valuing the aforementioned properties owned by Satpathy to determine their actual worth.

Additionally, vigilance officers uncovered cash amounting to Rs 23.95 lakhs during the search of Satpathy’s son-in-law, Dr. Tapan Kumar Tripathy, Medical Officer, CHC, Junagarh. Both Satpathy and his son-in-law are undergoing interrogation to clarify the source of these funds.

Moreover, anti-corruption officials found gold ornaments weighing 350 grams, bank, postal, and insurance deposits totalling Rs 1,06,66,475, two four-wheelers, two two-wheelers, and household belongings valued over Rs 17.31 lakhs.
