Bhubaneswar, February 24 (NationPress) In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at establishing Odisha as a leading destination for adventure tourism in Eastern India, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida inaugurated the ‘Go-Adventure’ portal during a ceremony at Lok Seva Bhavan.
During the event, the state government entered into two crucial Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) and the Aero Club of India (ACI), which are expected to enhance adventure tourism in the region. Deputy CM Parida highlighted that safety is fundamental to the expansion of adventure tourism in the state.
“By fostering international collaborations and focusing on spiritual and experiential travel, the government aims to modernize the sector and attract new investments from aspiring entrepreneurs,” stated Parida.
She also commended the collaborative efforts of the Tourism, Sports, and Home Departments in initiating a new era for tourism in Odisha, urging all departments to join forces to transform the state into a world-class tourism hotspot.
Chief Secretary Anu Garg, who attended the event, reiterated the government’s commitment to tourism development with the vision of achieving Utkarsh Odisha by 2036 and Viksit Bharat by 2047. She stressed the need for all departments to identify ways to contribute to tourism growth while fulfilling their primary responsibilities and emphasized the necessity of collective efforts. Garg expressed optimism that adventure tourism could stimulate local economies and create significant employment opportunities, encouraging stakeholders to embrace the motto: “Think India, Think Odisha.”
The government also announced that the Go-Adventure portal will streamline the registration, verification, and licensing processes for adventure tourism projects. The MoU with the Indian Mountaineering Foundation is anticipated to enhance safety audits and training programs for land-based adventure activities like trekking and rock climbing.
The collaboration with the Aero Club of India will oversee aerial adventure sports, including paragliding and paramotoring, ensuring they comply with national aviation safety standards.
In a bid to facilitate business operations, the government issued ‘Licence to Operate’ (LTO) and ‘Recognition to Set Up’ (RTS) certificates to domestic operators and formally distributed licenses to several adventure tourism operators during the ceremony.
