Key Takeaways
Bhubaneswar, Feb 4 (NationPress) The Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha, Pravati Parida, inaugurated three Tourism Caravans at Dhauli, near Bhubaneswar, with the objective of enhancing the state's tourism industry.
As per an official announcement, the Caravan tourism offers both transportation and lodging, providing visitors with a unique and immersive experience to discover various destinations. This approach grants greater flexibility, privacy, and freedom of movement. Travellers will journey in specially designed vehicles that feature sleeping quarters, kitchenettes, washrooms, and air conditioning, among other amenities.
During the event, Deputy CM Parida emphasized that these caravans will allow tourists to enjoy Odisha’s tranquil natural beauty at their own pace, all while being supported by thoughtfully designed facilities that merge convenience with eco-friendliness.
She also mentioned that Caravan tourism is a popular concept in several European nations, and Odisha’s introduction of this initiative aims to attract young adventurers, thrill-seekers, and unconventional explorers looking for experiential and nature-oriented travel.
Bhubaneswar-Ekamra MLA Babu Singh expressed that this initiative will provide tourists with a more comfortable and safe way to discover new destinations. He praised the government's efforts in this regard.
Deepankar Mohapatra, the Director of the Tourism Department, highlighted that caravan tourism will help in distributing tourists beyond typical hotspots, encouraging balanced regional growth and alleviating the burden on traditional tourist areas.
Launched by the Odisha Department of Tourism under the Viability Gap Funding (VGF) model, this initiative is operated and managed by Sand and Pebble Tours. The department has pinpointed potential tourist spots with significant appeal such as Hirakud, Similipal, Daringbadi, Deomali, Talsari, Pentha, Mangalajodi, Jiranga, and other pristine locations across the state for enriching caravan-based tourism experiences.
The inaugural trip headed to Talsari in Balasore, renowned for being one of Odisha's most serene and untouched beaches. A couple, Annada Prasad Padhy and Archana Padhy, were the first to receive tickets for this journey.
