Key Takeaways
Bhubaneswar, Feb 9 (NationPress) Residents from even the most isolated regions of Odisha gathered at the Chief Minister’s Grievance Cell on Monday as Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi held the 17th public grievance session, emphasizing the government's commitment to accessible and citizen-focused governance.
Joining the Chief Minister were five senior Ministers, along with Additional Chief Secretaries, Secretaries, and high-ranking officials, all engaged in addressing the concerns raised by citizens who traveled from various parts of the state.
As in previous sessions, the Chief Minister began by meeting with Persons with Disabilities (PwD) outside the grievance cell, personally hearing their issues. Among the 32 PwD applicants, medical aid of Rs 1 lakh was approved for Brajakishore Bandha from Bhadrak district, and Rs 1.50 lakh for Kartika from Jajpur district, both facing serious health challenges.
CM Majhi also instructed officials to expedite action on pending requests for medical assistance.
Additionally, the Chief Minister directed that travel and medical support be granted to Tilottama Pandey of Patnagarh, who suffers from kidney and neurological issues and had journeyed from a remote location to seek help from the Chief Minister.
Majhi subsequently addressed the grievances of all other registered applicants within the grievance cell. Official statistics indicate that out of 14,054 grievances received during the previous 16 public hearings, 13,169 have been successfully resolved, leading to a remarkable 94 percent resolution rate, with the remaining cases still in progress.
Speaking to the media present, the Chief Minister highlighted that grievance redressal is one of the most vital initiatives of his administration.
Majhi pointed out that a special focus has been placed on resolving grievances under the 15-point directive aimed at making the administration more citizen-oriented. He noted that regular grievance hearings at the state level have strengthened the system at district levels, where Collectors and Superintendents of Police are now routinely conducting hearings.
The event was attended by Ministers Prithiviraj Harichandan, Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, Dr. Mukesh Mahaling, Nityananda Gond, and Rabinarayan Naik, along with senior officials from various departments.
