Odisha: Review of Preparations for the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas

Bhubaneswar, Dec 3 (NationPress) The Chief Secretary of Odisha, Manoj Ahuja, convened a high-powered meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan on Tuesday to evaluate the arrangements for the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, which is planned to occur in Bhubaneswar from January 8 to 10 next year.
To ensure the successful execution of this important event, a total of 14 sub-committees have been established.
During the review meeting, Chief Secretary Ahuja engaged in discussions with the Secretaries of relevant departments and other senior officials from the state government.
The Industry Secretary presented a detailed layout covering various aspects of the arrangements, such as vehicle parking and seating at the venue, Janata Maidan, designed for VVIPs, local attendees, overseas Indians, and additional delegates.
The Tourism department has secured 3,700 rooms across several hotels to accommodate overseas Indians, delegates, and senior officials from the Ministry of External Affairs.
With overseas Indians planning visits to various tourist destinations, the Tourism department has initiated efforts to enhance the appeal of 28 tourist locations in cities like Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Puri.
The department has been encouraged to collaborate with tour operators for this purpose.
According to reports, the Odisha Housing and Urban Development department has commenced beautification projects for 55 roads in the city, which will feature wall paintings and murals along the walls adjacent to these roads.
Authorities from the Airlines and Civil Aviation sector have been urged to increase flight services for the event.
In the meantime, the State Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Mukesh Mahaling, disclosed earlier on Tuesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Odisha during the Pravasi Bharatiya Sammelan.
"Delegates from approximately 100 countries will take part in this grand occasion. Our focus is on ensuring the success of this event and displaying our vibrant art and culture to a wider audience. Our goal is to highlight Odisha's culture and capabilities, attracting investment, as Odisha is recognized as a peaceful state with political stability and numerous business opportunities. Our Chief Minister is actively working on a strategic plan to guarantee the event's success," stated Minister Mahaling.
