Preparations Underway for the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Jan 5 (NationPress) Efforts are in full swing for the upcoming 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas to be held in Bhubaneswar from 8-10 January.

The state government is committed to ensuring the success of this extensive three-day event.

After inspecting the arrangements at the venue located at Janata Maidan on Sunday, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja stated, "The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is set to take place in Bhubaneswar from 8-10 January this year. Notable attendees will include President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. Approximately 3500 overseas Indians have registered to take part in the event. All necessary preparations will be finalized by tomorrow."

He also expressed optimism that participants would enjoy a remarkable experience. He urged the residents of Bhubaneswar to play an active role in ensuring the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is a success and to warmly welcome guests from around the world.

YB Khurania, the Director General of Police, also reviewed the security protocols at the venue on Sunday. He informed the press that the Commissionerate police has made adequate security arrangements to prevent any incidents.

In a statement to the media, Police Commissioner S Dev Datta Singh mentioned that the police department has implemented various measures concerning delegate protection, anti-terrorism strategies, frisking, VIP security, traffic management, crowd control, and other anti-sabotage actions. The police have made comprehensive arrangements to ensure that attendees have an enjoyable experience during their visit.

It is noteworthy that a total of 83 platoons of police personnel will be deployed, which includes 40 platoons from outside the state, over 500 officers, 12 companies of the Central Armed Police Force, as well as officials from special intelligence and anti-terror units from both the central and state police during the three-day event.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to arrive on January 8, while President Droupadi Murmu will join on January 9. This marks the first time the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is being held in Bhubaneswar.
