President Droupadi Murmu Reaches Bhubaneswar for the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Event

Bhubaneswar, Jan 9 (NationPress) President Droupadi Murmu touched down in Bhubaneswar on Thursday to take part in the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention. At Bhubaneswar Airport, she was greeted by Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and various leaders from the BJP.
Following her arrival, President Murmu proceeded in a carcade to the Raj Bhavan, where she will stay overnight.
Throughout the journey to the Raj Bhavan, local artisans showcased an array of traditional cultural performances.
As she passed by, the President acknowledged the crowd and artisans on either side of the road with a wave. On Friday, she is set to participate in the concluding session of the three-day Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention.
During the event, she will present the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards to 27 Non-Resident Indians and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO).
It is noteworthy that the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention kicked off in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday, marked by the inauguration of the Youth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.
Delegates have been engaging in various plenary discussions covering a range of topics throughout the three-day event.
Importantly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially inaugurated the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.
Approximately 5,000 delegates from around the globe have gathered for this grand three-day convention.
PM Modi also inaugurated four exhibitions at the venue, including 'Vishwaroop Ram', which emphasizes the global impact of the Ramayana, ‘Diaspora's Contribution to Technology’, ‘Bharat Bharatiya: Swadesh Pardes’, which highlights the migration of people from Gujarat to Oman, and an ‘Exhibition on Heritage and Culture of Odisha’, showcasing the rich history and culture of Odisha.
Additionally, PM Modi remotely flagged off the inaugural journey of the Pravasi Bharatiya Express, a specially designed tourist train for the Indian diaspora.
This train will explore various culturally, historically, and religiously significant locations across India over three weeks. During his speech at the opening session, PM Modi invited the diaspora to contribute to India's development aspirations by 2047.
