EAM Jaishankar Highlights PM Modi's Shift from ‘Chalta Hai’ to ‘Hoga Kaise Nahin’ Mindset at 18th PBD Meet

Bhubaneswar, Jan 8 (NationPress) The 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) convention commenced in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday, featuring the launch of the Youth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, officiated by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar alongside Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
During his address, EAM Jaishankar emphasized that gathering the youth from the Indian diaspora is a tradition during PBD celebrations to acknowledge the significant roles young individuals play both domestically and internationally.
“We have embarked on our journey towards Viksit Bharat during the Amrit Kaal. This initiative is fundamentally geared towards the future generation,” remarked EAM Jaishankar.
He expressed that a substantial part of the Government of India's initiatives aims to provide the necessary encouragement to the youth to enhance their contributions.
Citing renowned badminton player P.V. Sindhu, EAM Jaishankar stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi serves as a youth icon who has transformed our nation from a ‘chalta hai’ mindset to ‘badal sakta hai’ and now to ‘hoga kaise nahin?’.
He called upon the attendees to advocate for India as a premier destination for tourism on an international scale.
“I would like to take this moment to encourage you, on behalf of Prime Minister Modi, to market India as a tourism hotspot. If young Indian PIOs invite their equally youthful friends from abroad to discover our uniquely rich and diverse heritage and culture, it will likely become a lifelong habit,” said EAM Jaishankar.
The EAM expressed satisfaction regarding the increasing appeal of the Know India Programme and Bharat Ko Janiye Quiz among the diaspora.
Jaishankar remarked, “This state presents an incredible opportunity to personally experience much of what we will be discussing during the PBD. Its cultural festivals and religious and archaeological sites remind us why we in India embrace a civilizational identity.”
Chief Minister Majhi, who graced the event as the chief guest, extended a warm welcome to the delegates in the land of Jagannath and the temple city of Bhubaneswar. “I hope that this first-time PBD convention in Bhubaneswar will remain a cherished memory for all of us. The bond of this relationship will only strengthen in the days to come,” stated CM Majhi. He added that the PBD convention honors the invaluable contributions of Indians globally while exploring new avenues for fellowship and collaboration.
He expressed that hosting this prestigious event is a matter of great honor and pride for Odisha.
Referring to the diaspora as cultural ambassadors and the pride of India, CM Majhi noted, “This is a confluence of ideas, cultures, and achievements that showcases the strength of global Indian identity. Today, we celebrate the remarkable contributions of our 30 million Indians residing across 200 nations.” The Chief Minister also mentioned that Indians at home take pride when the diaspora excels abroad, stating, “From leading roles in science and technology to heading global corporations and shaping global policies in governments worldwide, the Indian Diaspora has exhibited resilience and excellence,” remarked CM Majhi.
It is important to note that PM Modi is scheduled to formally inaugurate the PBD on Thursday, with approximately 5,000 delegates expected to participate in this grand event. President Droupadi Murmu will grace the valedictory session on Friday.
