Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi Evaluates Preparations for the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas

Bhubaneswar, Dec 10 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, conducted a thorough review of the preparations for the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) during a significant meeting held at the Lok Seva Bhawan on Monday.

The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is set to take place in Bhubaneswar from January 8-10 next year.

According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, CM Majhi noted that the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, which commenced in 2003, will be hosted in Odisha for the very first time.

He described this grand event as a remarkable chance to position Odisha on the global map, urging the organizing authorities to execute the program in an engaging and impeccable manner to enhance the perception of Odisha worldwide.

CM Majhi emphasized that the cleanliness standards in Bhubaneswar should align with international expectations. He proposed a dedicated cleanliness initiative in the city ahead of the event. Additionally, he suggested involving local residents in the organization of this festival.

As per the CMO, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will participate in the grand celebration for overseas Indians on the opening day, January 8. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi and President Droupadi Murmu are expected to grace the event on January 9 and January 10, respectively.

Plenary sessions titled 'Unraveling India's Best Kept Secret' and 'Odisha - The Land of Opportunities' will be featured during the event. Moreover, attendees will have the opportunity to experience Odisha's rich history, art, sculpture, music, dance, tribal culture, language, literature, tourist destinations, and more through various digital platforms during the three-day gathering. The state’s vision for 2036 and 2047 will also be presented.

Approximately 10 festivals will occur in Bhubaneswar during this timeframe. These include the Rajarani Music Festival (January 7-11), Mukteshwar Dance Festival (January 7-11), International Odissi Dance Festival (January 7-11), Tribal Dance and Folk Art Festival (January 7-11), Tribal Mela (January 5-15), Chilika Bird Festival (January 6-12), Flower Show (January 7-11), Food Fest (January 8-10) and Night Flea Market (January 8-10).

Renovations, lighting, and attractive decorations of all roads in Bhubaneswar, along with hotel accommodations for delegates, are currently in progress for this event. Popular tourist sites within the state, including Bhubaneswar and Puri, are being enhanced.

The state government is making comprehensive arrangements to guide guests to 28 tourist destinations across various cities like Bhubaneswar, Puri, Konark, and Jajpur. The government anticipates the attendance of 7,500 delegates at the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Bhubaneswar. Over 3,700 rooms have been reserved for visitors, with additional home stays organized in select locations.

Several ministers and senior officials from the state government attended the review meeting held on Monday.
